Hexxed!

I’ve been waiting for Hex for like 3 years now. Finally has some potential with WOTLK.

So, this vid demo shows the following casts:

  • Hex (magic effect)
  • Hex (magic effect)
  • Flame Shock
  • Lava Burst
  • Hex
  • Lava Burst
  • Hex (yes, dmg does not break Hex)
  • Thunder
  • Feral Spirit (target drop w/green circle to summon wolves on enemy to pet tank, yes can heal pet too)

Yeah, although all this stuff seems to be *sandbox* ideas at best right now, still interesting to see how <things that class x wants> goes to another class.

Hex: Transforms the enemy into a random critter, reducing the target’s movement speed by 75%.  While moving, the hexed target cannot attack or cast spells.  Only one target can be hexed at a time.  Only works on Humanoids and Beasts.

Range: 20 yard
Duration: 8 second duration
Cooldown: 1 minute

Note: does not break when Hex target is damaged, i.e. able to beat on things without them being able to beat back
Note: magic effect, can be dispelled, cleansed, w/e
Note: doesn’t heal the target like Polymorph
Note: there doesn’t seem to be a debuff after being hexed, so I would think a few shaman could chain-hex a target for a good amount of time while damaging it with some mechanism for diminishing returns to increase resistance to Hex
Note: the cooldown is not really giving Shaman an effective CC as  Polymorph lasts a good 45 sec and can be recast without a 1 min cooldown

Wrath of the Lich King | Hero Classes

So I returned to the Draenei guards in Ironforge the other day to discuss Hero classes in the next expansion.  You know the Death Knight will not be the only Hero Class, Blizzard always tries to ‘balance’ things and only 1 or 2 hero classes will just not be equal to all the hardcore altaholics out there, so I wanted to write down my thoughts on Wrath of the Lich King especially focusing on Hero Classes. Since there will be some siege warfare in the next expansion, I’ve tried to give some mass effect abilities & mass unit controls to the Hero Classes.  Here’s a list of possible Hero Classes derived from the base class (ordered by the most likely to I-really-can’t-decide).

Paladin Death Knight Damage dealing tank caster, short range AoE
Priest Prophet Heals with near unlimited range, Mass Heal
Mage Arch Mage Mass Teleport, Mass Polymorph
Shaman Farseer /Spiritweaver Spirit Wolf pets *cough cc* (i.e. maybe a Banish like effect where the target lives in a spirit world for 30 seconds unless the Spirit Wolf is damaged), mass Bloodlust
Druid Arch Druid Starfall, Giant tree of massive damage w/slow movement
Rogue Warden Blink and short range Fanstrike AoE
Warlock Necromancer Death and Decay, Mass Demon Summon, Shadow Volley
Warrior Champion /shrug if I know, Mirror Image, Spellbreaker
Hunter Ranger Mass Tame Pets, Stealth, Track Target Until Death, Freezing Shot

My fear is that too many players will charge into Hero Classes and it will end up as a world wide DOTA.
